Annie Madden is the Executive Officer of the Australian Injecting & Illicit Drug Users League (AIVL) the national organisation representing people who inject or have injected illicit drugs including people in drug treatment in Australia. Annie has been working in the areas of injecting drug use, HIV, hepatitis C, peer education, harm reduction, AOD treatment and drug user representation for over 20 years. She is well-published and has an extensive background in advocacy, consumer representation, policy development, research and service delivery. She has a degree in the social sciences, is undertaking a program of graduate law studies and is also a person living with hepatitis C and is currently on methadone maintenance treatment.
