Human Rights Committee Iran LOI 2020
Abdorrahman Boroumand Center and Harm Reduction International report to the Human Rights Committee ahead of its adoption of the List of Issues Prior to Reporting for the review of Iran, at its 129th Session.
The submission assesses Iran's satisfaction of its obligations under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) as it relates to drug policy, with a specific focus on:
- the death penalty for drug offences,
- cruel, inhuman, and degrading punishments for drug offences,
- due process in drug-related cases, and
- compulsory drug detention and rehabilitation centres.
